Ali Wong and Bill Hader Make Their Red Carpet Debut as a Couple at the 2025 DGA Awards.

The 2025 Directors Guild of America (DGA) Awards red carpet was the site of a significant moment for comedians Ali Wong and Bill Hader: their first official public appearance as a couple. While rumors of their romance have circulated for some time, this marked the first time the pair have walked a red carpet together, solidifying their relationship in the public eye. The couple appeared relaxed and happy, sharing laughs and enjoying each other's company as they made their way into the event.

Wong, 42, was nominated for her first DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Variety/Talk/News/Sports – Specials for her Netflix special, Ali Wong: Single Lady. She looked stunning for the occasion, wearing a sheer beige and brown ombre sleeveless gown featuring a dramatic ruffled train. Her signature glasses and side-parted hair styled in loose curls completed her elegant look. Hader, 46, complemented her perfectly, looking dapper in a classic black tuxedo with a bowtie. The pair's easy chemistry was evident as they shared laughs and smiles, clearly enjoying the celebratory atmosphere.

Wong's nomination placed her in a competitive category alongside the directors of high-profile events like the Oscars, the Tonys, Tom Brady's roast, and The Daily Show's election night coverage. While she didn't ultimately win the award, her nomination itself was a testament to her talent and the impact of her work.

Wong and Hader's relationship has been a subject of interest since they were first linked in the fall of 2022. Both comedians had recently ended previous relationships: Wong had separated from her husband, Justin Hakuta, and Hader had broken up with actress Anna Kendrick. Their initial connection was reported to be casual, with a source telling Us Weekly that they were friends first, having known each other from their respective comedy circles. However, after Wong became single, the possibility of a romantic relationship arose. The source added that both were in a good place in their lives and decided to "give it another shot."

The timeline of their relationship has been somewhat public, albeit with periods of privacy. They initially split in December 2022 but rekindled their romance in April 2023. Since then, they have been intentionally discreet about their relationship. As Wong explained to Access Hollywood last year, "We're very selectively private." She acknowledged that they had been together "for a minute" and that perhaps people hadn't realized it. She also alluded to their shared experiences as parents in their 40s, suggesting a level of understanding and common ground.

One notable public moment for the couple occurred at the Golden Globes, where Wong won Best Actress for her role in Beef. Hader was seen giving her a celebratory kiss, a gesture that further confirmed their relationship.

Both Wong and Hader have children from previous relationships. Wong shares two daughters, Mari, 8, and Nikki, 6, with Hakuta, whom she amicably divorced last year after a 20-month legal separation and seven years of marriage. Hakuta, a co-founder of a stealth startup, had a prenuptial agreement with Wong. Despite their divorce, Wong and Hakuta remain close friends and co-parent their children.

Hader co-parents three daughters, Hannah, 14; Harper, 11; and Hayley, 9, with TV director Maggie Carey, whom he divorced in 2018 after 11 years of marriage. Prior to his relationship with Kendrick, Hader dated his The To Do List co-star, Rachel Bilson, from 2019 to 2020.

In addition to his career and personal life, Hader has also faced challenges outside of the entertainment industry. He was among the residents of Pacific Palisades whose homes were affected by the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles. While many homes in the area were destroyed, Hader's property, which he purchased in 2019 for $4.2 million, thankfully survived. Hader spoke to KTLA about the experience, expressing his shock and relief that his family was safe. He described the rapid spread of the fires as "mind-boggling" and emphasized the importance of safety for everyone affected.

The DGA Awards red carpet appearance marks a new chapter for Wong and Hader as a couple. While they have chosen to keep much of their relationship private, their presence at the event signals a greater willingness to share their lives together publicly. As they navigate their careers and personal lives, fans will undoubtedly continue to follow their journey with interest.
