Beyonce details new diet as she focuses on prioritizing her health
Beyoncé Shares Insights on Health and Wellness Journey Amid New Diet and Lifestyle Changes.
Beyoncé is embracing a healthier lifestyle as she focuses on prioritizing her well-being. In a recent interview with GQ, published just days after celebrating her 43rd birthday on a tropical vacation, the global superstar opened up about the changes she’s making to her diet and the importance of self-care, especially after her grueling Renaissance 2023 World Tour.
Embracing a Healthier Lifestyle
Known for her dedication to her craft, Beyoncé has always been open about the challenges of balancing her career, family, and personal well-being. This summer, however, she has made a conscious effort to focus more on her health. In her interview, the Single Ladies singer revealed she has significantly overhauled her diet, giving up all meat except for turkey and focusing on eating “very clean.”
"I've been trying to focus on my health, taking my supplements, and eating very clean. I've given up meat, except for turkey, this summer," she shared. Despite her dedication to maintaining a healthy diet, the mother-of-three admitted that sticking to an exercise routine has been a bit more challenging. "I'm trying to muster the strength to work out, but I just can't do it today. Maybe tomorrow," she confessed with a laugh.
A History of Changing Diets
Beyoncé's recent dietary adjustments aren’t her first attempt at making healthy changes. Over the years, the 32-time Grammy winner has tried various diets and lifestyle modifications, always in pursuit of better health and energy. In 2015, she completed a 22-day vegan challenge, an experience she discussed in a past interview with The New York Times.
"At first, it's the little things I noticed: I had more energy… The benefits of a plant-based diet need to be known," she explained. "We should spend more time loving ourselves, which means taking better care of ourselves with good nutrition and making healthier food choices."
During that time, she also highlighted improvements in her skin, sleep, and overall well-being without having to deprive herself of certain foods, like carbohydrates. However, Beyoncé has since moved away from strictly plant-based eating, opting for a more balanced approach.
Learning to Prioritize Self-Care
In her candid interview with GQ, Beyoncé reflected on her evolving approach to health and wellness, particularly as it relates to her mental and physical well-being. The singer acknowledged that for many years, she didn’t always make herself a priority due to the pressures of being the “backbone” of her family and her business.
"I think like many women, I have felt the pressure of being the backbone of my family and my company and didn't realize how much that takes a toll on my mental and physical well-being. I have not always made myself a priority," she said.
Her experience of touring for more than half her life, combined with years of intense performances that often required dancing in high heels, has taken a toll on her body. Beyoncé admitted to struggling with insomnia and the wear and tear on her muscles from decades of performing. To combat this, she has developed self-care techniques over the years, learning to listen to her body and focus on her health.
"I've picked up many secrets and techniques over the years to look my best for every show. But I know that to give the best of me, I have to take care of myself and listen to my body," she emphasized.
A Shift in Focus: From Diets to Overall Well-Being
In previous years, Beyoncé adhered to strict diets, cutting out bread, sugar, dairy, meat, fish, and alcohol to prepare for her world tours. However, in her latest interview, she insisted that she would never be so restrictive again.
"Self-care isn't just about exercising and being overly conscious of my body. My health, the way I feel when I wake up in the morning, my peace of mind, the number of times I smile—those are the things that I've been focusing on," she revealed.
For Beyoncé, self-care now extends beyond just physical health. She emphasized the importance of mental health, noting that she is learning to break the cycle of neglect and focus on listening to the subtle signs her body gives her.
"Mental health is self-care too. I'm learning to break the cycle of poor health and neglect, focusing my energy on my body and taking note of the subtle signs that it gives me," she said. "Your body tells you everything you need to know, but I've had to learn to listen. It's a process to change habits and look past the bag of chips and the chaos everywhere!"
Concerns About Technology and AI
In addition to sharing insights about her health, Beyoncé also touched on her concerns regarding the rapid evolution of technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI). As a mother of three, she is mindful of how technology impacts her children and expressed her worries about the digital world they are growing up in.
"We live in a world of access. We have access to so much information—some facts, and some complete b******t disguised as truth," she remarked. She shared how technology has transformed communication, comparing her experiences with her husband, Jay-Z, when they were dating, to how children interact today. "Our children can FaceTime and see their friends at any given moment. My husband and I? We used calling cards and Skype when we were falling in love."
Beyoncé also discussed her encounter with AI music, revealing that she recently heard an AI-generated song that sounded eerily like her own voice. "Just recently, I heard an AI song that sounded so much like me it scared me. It's impossible to truly know what's real and what's not," she admitted.
Promoting Her New Whisky Brand
Amid her focus on health and wellness, Beyoncé is also promoting her latest business venture—a new drinks brand called SirDavis Whisky. While she didn’t go into detail about the brand in the interview, it’s clear that the singer is expanding her empire beyond music and fashion.
As she continues to prioritize her health, balance her family life, and explore new ventures, Beyoncé remains a beacon of inspiration for many, constantly evolving and finding new ways to care for herself and those around her.
