A married prison officer has been sentenced to 15 months in jail after admitting to misconduct in public office, following the release of an explicit video showing her engaging in a sexual act with an inmate at HMP Wandsworth.

Shocking Video Goes Viral
Linda De Sousa Abreu, 30, was caught on camera having sex with convicted burglar Linton Weirich while in full uniform. The incident, filmed by another inmate, quickly circulated on social media, causing widespread outrage.

The footage showed De Sousa Abreu pulling down her prison-issue trousers and engaging in a sexual act with Weirich against the cell door. A second inmate was seen smoking in the background, remarking, “This is a movie, innit – gangsters online.”

Authorities later discovered additional evidence of misconduct. Footage from her body-worn camera accidentally captured an earlier sexual encounter with the same inmate on the same day.

Court Sentencing and Judge’s Remarks
De Sousa Abreu appeared at Isleworth Crown Court, where Judge Martin Edmunds KC sentenced her to 15 months in prison. She will serve half of her sentence in custody and the remainder on licence.

Judge Edmunds condemned her actions, stating:
“It will impact the reputation of the prison service and increase anxiety among families of vulnerable prisoners. The recording will doubtlessly circulate indefinitely, further undermining the trust in prison staff.”

A Pattern of Misconduct
The court heard that this was not the first time De Sousa Abreu had engaged in sexual acts with Weirich. The viral video was part of a series of encounters that took place over several months.

Prosecutor Eloise Marshall KC described the behavior as “intentional and deliberate,” adding that it “severely undermined the authority of prison staff and the duty of care owed to prisoners.”

The Governor of HMP Wandsworth, Andrew Davy, highlighted the fallout from the incident, noting that female staff now face increased harassment from inmates, while their families endure public humiliation.

Defense and Mitigation
De Sousa Abreu’s defense attorney, Rajiv Menon KC, revealed that she suffers from severe borderline personality disorder and ADHD, which contributed to her actions. He argued that she had used sex as a coping mechanism for emotional trauma.

Originally from Brazil, De Sousa Abreu had previously appeared on Channel 4’s Open House: The Great Sex Experiment, a show about swingers, alongside her husband, an MMA fighter. The couple also ran an explicit OnlyFans account under pseudonyms, where they shared intimate content with subscribers.

Attempt to Evade Arrest
Following the video’s release, De Sousa Abreu attempted to flee to Madrid but was arrested at Heathrow Airport. During police questioning, she initially claimed she acted under duress and feared for her safety, but later retracted this statement.

Reputation and Professional Damage
The scandal has sparked widespread criticism and raised concerns about security lapses within the prison system. Judge Edmunds noted the significant harm caused, stating:
“Her actions have undone years of progress in integrating female staff into male-dominated environments.”

De Sousa Abreu’s sentencing marks a dark chapter for HMP Wandsworth, as the prison service works to rebuild its damaged reputation.
