Taylor Swift reignites feud with Kim Kardashian on new album "The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology

Taylor Swift appears to be reviving her long-standing feud with reality star Kim Kardashian on her surprise album release.

The deluxe version of "The Tortured Poets Department," titled "The Anthology," features 15 new songs, two of which seemingly target Kardashian.

"thanK you aIMee"

The most direct diss track is titled "thanK you aIMee," with the capitalized letters spelling out "KIM." In the song, Swift paints a picture of a high school bully named Aimee, referencing a "spray-tanned statue" and a "plaque underneath" threatening to push her down the stairs. Fans believe this imagery is directed at Kardashian's past comments and social media posts.

The lyrics delve into the public perception of the feud, with Swift singing, "All that time you were throwin' punches, I was buildin' somethin'/ And I couldn't wait to show you it was real." The chorus hints at unresolved feelings: "Screamed 'F*** you, Aimee' to the night sky, as the blood was gushin'/ But I can't forget the way you made me heal."

The song ends with a line suggesting the feud might continue: "I don't think you've changed much/ And so I changed your name, and any real defining clues/ And one day, your kid comes home singin'/ A song that only us two is gonna know is about you."

Possible reference on "Cassandra"

Another song, "Cassandra," might also be a veiled jab at Kardashian. The mythological reference to Cassandra, a prophet cursed to be disbelieved, appears to connect to Swift's claims that Kardashian's edited phone call footage painted her as a liar.

A look back at the feud

The feud between Swift and Kardashian stems from a 2016 incident involving rapper Kanye West. West's song "Famous" contained a lyric about Swift that she denied approving. Leaked footage from a phone call supposedly showed Swift giving the go-ahead, but Swift claimed the clips were edited to misrepresent the conversation.

Kardashian, then married to West, posted the edited footage on social media, sparking a public backlash against Swift.

Swift opens up about the impact

In a 2017 interview with Time Magazine, Swift spoke about the psychological toll the feud took on her. She described feeling "canceled within an inch of her life" and experiencing a period of isolation and fear.

Will there be a resolution?

With these new songs, it appears Swift is revisiting the feud. Whether this reignites the conflict or offers a form of closure remains to be seen.
