Courteney Cox was unable to see she looked 'a little off' after getting fillers as she expresses regrets over having work done as a young woman
The Friends actress, 58, described the vicious cycle she went through to maintain her looks during an appearance on the podcast Gloss Angeles and expressed regrets over getting the procedure done.
While Cox initially believed she looked fine after receiving the filler, it wasn't apparent to her just how 'off' she really appeared until much later.
'Thinking I was getting older when I was really young,' she began. 'That's just a bummer, a waste of time; it's a domino effect, it's like you don't realize that you look a little off, so then you keep doing more cause you look normal to yourself and you look in the mirror and go, "Oh, that looks good,"' she said.
'You don't realize what it looks like to the outside person and just doing too many fillers and then having to have them removed, which thank god they are removable, but I think I messed up a lot and now luckily I can, I was able to reverse most of that, and now I'm actually just older.'
Courteney says she is in disbelief whenever she finds old photos of herself taken from her filler era.
'I look at pictures of me from when I thought I looked okay, and I can't believe it,' she admitted.
She also said: 'My publicist wouldn't let me post this, but I wanted to say, like a before or what I was and what I am, and then the caption would be "oh this is what my friend was talking about," because when someone is talking to you [about fillers] and saying, "babe, I don't know," then you're like "what?!" I didn't do anything here and nothing there" and you don't realize that probably floated down.'
Courteney has been candid about how her efforts to remain youthful actually backfired.
Last year, the actress admitted she initially tried to fight looking older with various 'injections' and other treatments but eventually realized she went 'crazy' and is now trying to age gracefully.
She told the sunday Times Style magazine: 'There was a time when you go, "Oh, I’m changing. I'm looking older." And I tried to chase that [youthfulness] for years.
'And I didn't realise that, oh s***, I’m actually looking really strange with injections and doing stuff to my face that I would never do now.'
Musing on whether to post a photo on Instagram of those days compared to now, she added: 'I'd say, "The day you realise what your friends were talking about."
'Because people would talk about me, I think. But there was a period where I went, "I've got to stop. That's just crazy."'
While she has given up cosmetic procedures, Courteney loves trying new products because she still puts a lot of 'intense' pressure on herself to look good.
She said: 'The scrutiny is intense, but I don't know if it could be more intense than what I put on myself.
'I'm a product whore. I will try anything.'
The former Friends star also said she 'can't believe' her next milestone birthday will be 60.
She said: 'Oh God, it's so hard to even hear or say. I can't believe it. There's nothing wrong with being 60, I just can't believe it. Time goes so fast.
'There's no question that I am more grounded, I've learnt so much in my life — what to enjoy, what to try to do more of and what to let go of.'
