Bonnaroo 2025 Canceled Due to Severe Weather, Fans Express Outrage Over Lost Money and Travel Plans.

The highly anticipated Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival 2025, held annually in Manchester, Tennessee, ended in disappointment after it was abruptly canceled due to severe weather conditions. Fans who had traveled from far and wide, spending thousands of dollars on tickets, travel, and accommodations, were left devastated by the sudden decision.

The cancellation was announced on Friday, June 13, a date many superstitiously consider unlucky — a notion that, for Bonnaroo attendees, rang true. After just one full day of performances on Thursday, including sets by Luke Combs and Dom Dolla, festival organizers shut down the remaining events due to dangerous weather forecasts.

Sudden Shutdown After Just One Full Day

Festival-goers were first alerted when the event’s central area, known as Centeroo, was evacuated around 1:30 PM CT on Friday. Later in the day, the Bonnaroo team released an official statement via their app and social media, confirming the full cancellation of the remainder of the weekend.

"We are beyond gutted, but we must make the safest decision and cancel the remainder of Bonnaroo,” the statement read.

On Instagram, organizers elaborated that the National Weather Service had issued an updated forecast predicting “significant and steady precipitation” that would worsen camping and egress conditions throughout the weekend.

Focus on Safety and Damage Control

Organizers emphasized the need for patience and cooperation, especially from attendees whose campsites were still in manageable condition.

"Some of your fellow campers’ sites are in rough shape. The rain has settled in areas and made certain parts of Outeroo difficult to manage," they noted.

Those in RVs or pre-pitched accommodations were asked to stay overnight to allow safe and prioritized exit for campers in more difficult conditions or with accessibility needs.

"We have put our hearts and souls into making this weekend the most special one of the year, and cannot express how crushed we are to have to make this decision," the statement continued.

Despite the cancellation, Outeroo remained open with food vendors and health services still operating Friday night.

Refund Policy Explained

Festival organizers promised partial refunds to ticket holders. According to the official announcement:

Despite these efforts, many fans expressed deep frustration online.

Fan Reactions: "We Spent Thousands"

The cancellation sparked outrage across social media, with many fans citing financial losses, ruined travel plans, and disappointment over missed performances.

"BRO WE SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO BE HERE," one attendee vented on Instagram.

Another wrote:

"Literally spent THOUSANDS of dollars flying from Hawaii……. first Roo and most likely my last."

Adding to the tension, some fans questioned the severity of the weather conditions, claiming that there was no rain after the announcement.

"Not a single dropp of rain was dropped after this was posted lol," another frustrated user commented.

While some attendees understood the need for safety, others argued that more could have been done to prepare or that communication could have been handled better in the lead-up to the weekend.

A Hit to Bonnaroo’s Reputation

This year’s cancellation marks a significant blow to Bonnaroo’s reputation. The multi-day festival, known for its camping culture and vibrant community spirit, has long been a staple in the summer music scene.

The event, which has hosted legends like Paul McCartney, U2, and Radiohead in past years, draws tens of thousands of visitors annually. With only one day completed in 2025, many question how this will affect future attendance, especially for fans who traveled from outside the U.S. or made once-in-a-lifetime plans to attend.

What’s Next for Bonnaroo?

Although the festival’s team promised to “make things right,” they also acknowledged that it may take time to rebuild trust with their fanbase.

As they wrote in their statement:

“Thank you in advance for your patience, your positivity and your unfailing Bonnaroovian spirit.”

For many, that spirit has been tested. As the festival industry grapples with increasingly unpredictable weather patterns, Bonnaroo’s 2025 experience may serve as a cautionary tale for other large-scale outdoor events.

The big question now is whether disappointed fans will give Bonnaroo another shot — or if this year’s chaos will mark the beginning of a downturn for one of America’s most iconic festivals.
