Joe Jonas Breaks Silence on Sophie Turner Divorce Pain
Joe Jonas Opens Up About 'Scary and Intimidating' Post-Divorce Journey with Sophie Turner.

Joe Jonas has opened up about the emotional aftermath of his divorce from actress Sophie Turner, describing the experience as "scary and intimidating" as he navigated the complexities of love, parenthood, and fame. In a recent TalkShopLive stream, the 35-year-old singer offered a candid glimpse into his love life and the inspiration behind his new solo music, just days before the release of his upcoming album, Music For People Who Believe In Love, which is set to debut on Friday, May 23.
During the livestream, Jonas reflected on a pivotal track from the album titled "Only Love." He revealed that the song was born out of a deeply personal moment while dating someone new after the split. "I was seeing somebody at the time and I was kind of having this idea of dating again," Jonas explained. "It was really scary and intimidating. Love takes different shapes and forms and I was rediscovering what that was."
He recounted a key conversation with his then-partner that led to the creation of the song. "They said to me, 'Well, it's only love,' and it hit me. It seemed simple, but it carried so much weight in that moment." Jonas emphasized the emotional journey of moving forward after heartbreak, stating, "It's okay to take a leap of faith and just try again and put yourself out there."

Jonas and Turner’s relationship began in 2016, culminating in a romantic Las Vegas wedding in 2019. The couple welcomed two daughters, Willa, now four, and Delphine, two. However, their seemingly fairy-tale romance came to an end in 2023. By September 2024, the divorce was finalized after a lengthy and, at times, contentious legal process.

Their split included a highly publicized custody battle over their daughters, with disputes over their permanent residence. In a dramatic turn, Turner filed a child abduction claim against Jonas, which was later dismissed by a judge in January. In March, it was reported that Turner would relocate permanently to the U.K. with the children.
Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar, Turner reflected on the breakup, saying, "We had a beautiful relationship, and it was hard." She also told British Vogue about the emotional toll of enduring a public divorce while being separated from her children. "Those were the worst few days of my life. I was on set, under contract, and I couldn’t leave. My kids were in the States, and all these articles started coming out."
Following the split, Turner has been romantically linked to British aristocrat Peregrine Pearson. Meanwhile, Jonas briefly dated singer and actress Stormi Bree, but the relationship ended in June last year.
Jonas poured his emotions into creating Music For People Who Believe In Love, a project that helped him process the whirlwind of changes in his personal life. Speaking with Billboard, he said, "I was going through a lot of life changes. Finding out who I was as a person and father and friend, and living under the microscope of what the music industry can be."
He continued, "It was scary at times, and also freeing. I'm not trying to come for anyone on this album. I'm not trying to put stuff on blast. I have a beautiful life that I'm grateful for. I've got two beautiful kids. I'm a happy person, and the music needed to resemble that—but also, the journey to get here."

So far, Jonas has released three singles from the album—"Heart By Heart," "Work It Out," and "What This Could Be"—each offering a glimpse into the themes of love, loss, growth, and healing.
In addition to his solo endeavors, Jonas is reuniting with his brothers Nick and Kevin for the highly anticipated Living The Dream Tour. The tour, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of The Jonas Brothers, kicks off on August 10 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and wraps up on November 14 after a cross-country journey across the U.S. and Canada.

"We're beyond excited to hit the road and celebrate 20 years of music," the Jonas Brothers shared in a joint statement. "Our fans have been with us through every chapter, and this tour is our way of honoring them, the memories we've made, and the ones we'll create together. We can't wait to make this our biggest, most unforgettable tour yet."
With his new album and upcoming tour, Joe Jonas is stepping into a new chapter—one that reflects healing, transformation, and the enduring power of music.
