Shakira Cancels Third Show Amid Record-Breaking Tour
Shakira Cancels Third Concert in a Row Amid Record-Breaking Tour Success.

Global pop icon Shakira has canceled her third concert in as many days, casting a shadow over what has otherwise been a historic and triumphant tour. The Colombian superstar, 48, was scheduled to perform at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. on Saturday night as part of the WorldPride welcome event. However, event organizers and stadium officials announced on Friday that the performance would no longer go ahead, citing complications related to previous tour logistics.
Third Cancellation in a Series of Setbacks
The Washington, D.C. show was meant to be a high-profile appearance to kick off WorldPride, the world’s largest LGBTQ+ festival, which celebrates diversity and inclusion at the start of Pride Month. Unfortunately, this marks the third consecutive concert cancellation for Shakira’s “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” world tour.
Earlier in the week, the singer was forced to cancel two sold-out performances at Fenway Park in Boston scheduled for Thursday and Friday. According to TMZ, local city inspectors identified "structural elements that were not up to standard," which prevented the shows from moving forward.
Official Statement from Nationals Park
A statement posted by Nationals Park around 5 PM EST on Friday confirmed the cancellation:
“Due to complications with the previous show in Boston, Shakira’s full tour production cannot be transported to Washington, D.C. in time for her scheduled performance at Nationals Park on Saturday, May 31.”

Shakira Responds: "I Am Devastated"
Shakira addressed the cancellations with a heartfelt statement shared through her publicist:
“I have been counting the days, excited to be reunited with my fans in both Washington and Boston. My team and I have made every effort to make it happen, but it doesn’t depend on any one of us right now. I am devastated that these shows were just not possible this time.”
She reassured her fans by promising:
“I will do everything in my power to be with you as soon as I can.”
The singer had taken to X (formerly Twitter) just days earlier to stoke excitement for the Boston concerts, sharing photos alongside collaborators Will.I.Am and Wyclef Jean, teasing fans with the message: “Boston I'm coming! Will.I.Am and Wycleff tomorrow! I can't ask for more!! And can't wait to be on stage with all of you!”
A Record-Breaking Tour Despite Setbacks
Despite the recent cancellations, Shakira’s “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” tour is enjoying historic success. According to Billboard, the tour has become the highest-grossing Latin American concert tour by a female artist, surpassing Karol G's "Mañana Será Bonito" tour.
To date, the tour has generated an estimated $130 million from just 21 shows across Mexico and South America. Even with the canceled U.S. dates, Shakira’s tour is still ranked second globally on Billboard’s 2025 Midyear Boxscore Report, behind only Coldplay, who grossed $142 million over 20 shows with 1.3 million attendees between October 31, 2024, and March 31, 2025.
Shakira Takes a Fall—But Not from Grace
The singer’s recent challenges on the tour have not been limited to canceled shows. During a performance at the Bell Centre in Montreal last week, Shakira took a nasty fall on stage while performing her 2001 global hit “Whenever, Wherever.”

A fan-captured video showed the Grammy winner losing her balance mid-performance and hitting the stage floor hard. Demonstrating professionalism and resilience, she quickly recovered and continued the performance without missing a beat—earning applause from fans and viewers online for her poise and dedication.
While the recent cancellations have disappointed fans in Boston and Washington, Shakira’s statement makes clear that she is committed to rescheduling and continuing the tour as soon as logistics allow. Her team is expected to review future U.S. tour dates to prevent similar setbacks, and fans remain hopeful that rescheduled shows will be announced in the near future.
In the meantime, Shakira continues to dominate the global music stage, proving once again that despite logistical hurdles and on-stage mishaps, her star power remains unshakable.
Stay tuned for updates on Shakira’s rescheduled tour dates and her ongoing dominance in the Latin and global music industry.
